What to do in Isla Mujeres

With the island’s small size—only four miles long—our Isla Mujeres beach houses are nestled right in the middle of anything you could want to do. Of course, the biggest attractions to the island are its beaches. Playa Norte is the most popular, and is peppered with beachside bars and hammocks. Here you’ll find warm, shallow water, which is great for cooling off from sunbathing or a place to let the kids swim. If you’re looking for more of an exploratory experience, Punta Sur on the southern tip of the island offers a lighthouse, sea turtle sanctuary, and even the remains of a Mayan temple.

Feel the Adventure

If you’re feeling adventurous, in the months of May through September, local tour companies will allow you to swim with whale sharks. That’s right—pairs of two can snorkel above these slow-moving, docile animals for an unforgettable experience. Of course, there are plenty of other ways to experience Isla Mujeres’s beautiful beaches. Boating, fishing tours, surfing, and scuba diving are all popular with both tourists and year-round residents

The Best Gastronomy

Stop for some authentic breakfast chilaquiles at Cafe Mogagua, or catch an early morning yoga class at Treehouse Yoga. This open-air studio is located on Playa Norte and overlooks the ocean for your most tranquil sun salutations yet. Drive past the aptly named Crayola House for an easy photo op of some of the island’s most colorful architecture. And, of course, if you’d like to venture into Cancun for a day, the ferry leaves every 30 minutes.

Isla Mujeres in Quintana Roo is perfect for a relaxing beachside getaway. Experience all the island has to offer—beaches, delicious cuisine, and a laid-back atmosphere.
